What you Missed: This week's Tony's Tips!

Updated: Sep 29

In the latest Tony Talks episode, Tony shares three tips any goalkeeper coach could use in the field. We encourage you to write some of these down and use them to improve your game!

  1. Always have a Plan C up your sleeve

"You never know what can happen or change to effect play. A and even plan B. So make sure you've got something in your mind or something written down that can help you recover whatever you need to change should something happen. That could be a number of players changes, the facility, the venue, the weather." Tony says. "So make sure you've always got a number of plans up your sleeve."

  2. Use moments from the game. to help you design a practice

"And keep it as realistic as possible. And it may be tough for you at times. You may only have one goalkeeper that you're working with, so you may not have other players or access to, you know, loads of equipment and so on. But you've got to be trying and try and be creative. So how can you be creative and make sure that the practices that you use to help your goalkeeper develop and get better those situations from the game? Okay, you. Um, are creative and you and you get those rights.

  3. Always keep your guard up, and know who to put your trust in.

There are some that will covet your position, definitely, and I've had that in the past, you know, with a number of people, no names of course, but I'm always wary, always got my guard up, okay, because at some point they'll covet the role that you have. And they'll want an opportunity to walk in your shoes. So really do your diligence around the people that you bring into your organization or into your environment and make sure that you know, um, um, completely before you let them get too deep in.
